CLAUDIA Claudia is the Founder of Berberlands and her heart beats “Souria” where she has been living for 10 years. Always attracted by ancient cultures, the Sahara, and Berber culture have drawn her to Morocco which has become her home. She is also the Mom of a little ray of sunshine daughter who sometimes comes on tours with her. This life with different cultures found in Morocco and attracted by Essaouira itself along with the relaxed, grateful way of living next to the Atlantic Ocean makes life extremely special and precious to her. Every hour in untouched nature and sharing with the people who are still very connected to the earth is a gift for her. Claudia wants to share that magic with you!
NAIMA Naima is bound and determined to show you the vast, beautiful surroundings and to share all of her knowledge with you. She is naturally inquisitive and always interested in learning new things, broadening her horizons, and open to all kinds of questions. We often discuss the subject of women’s life here in Morocco which is a broad subject and a part of our tours as well. Don’t forget that on our tours whatever we share is a two-way exchange, you learn from us and we learn from you. Naima loves guiding her tours in English although she is also fluent in French and is currently learning German.
MALIKA Malika is a gifted young woman who fully embraces life and is very involved with the Berberlands lifestyle. She is always well-prepared and takes great pride in all of her well- thought-out responses to questions that you may have on her tours. With her gentle manner, she is always cheerful and enthusiastic while guiding people on tours which opens the doors to a much richer understanding of Berber culture. She loves to be on long hikes showing you hidden pathways and also facilitates interactions throughout the time you share with rural families and people that we support and work with while also being able to also respond to your queries. Malika guides in French and is currently also learning English.
HABIBA Habiba’s “Le petit Bonhomme de la Chance” shop is in the Medina and you can sign in for tours as she has all the information that you might need to be able to choose “your” tour. She also does henna tattoos and offers a wide variety of natural and cosmetic products as well as a many local and regional spices. While there you could have a look at the book that she wrote with Frédérique Thévenet about Moroccan spices with copies available in both English and French. Habiba’s shop door is open from 9 to 18h.
JAHA Jaha is not only a tour dog, she shines with the light of Berberland’s heart and soul. She loves to come out on many of the tours and join in the groups. She enjoys being with kids and the kids love her so she is the perfect “ice breaker” to make kids feel comfortable. On our walks and hikes it is Jaha who shows us all how to tune into nature, use our senses to see, feel, listen, and to embrace nature on the day out in the Berberlands. Let the magic touch you!
